Metallica have been announced as the third headliner at Glastonbury Festival and will be playing on the legendary Pyramid Stage on Saturday night.
In an interview on the festival website Michael Eavis said, “Metallica are one of the most popular bands in the world! There’s a huge swathe of people who love Metallica to bits and just think they’re absolutely amazing.”
Over the course of its 44 year history the festival has become renowned for both its surprise headliner acts and its policy on musical eclecticism.
“We’re a music festival,” continues Eavis. “We’ve never limited ourselves to one particular genre and we’ve had pretty much everything over the years.”
The War On Drugs, Nick Mulvey and the English National Ballet have also been added to the Pyramid Stage line-up. Meanwhile The Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band, St. Vincent and James Blake will feature at The Park and M.I.A and Bryan Ferry at the West Holts stage.
