Built around heavy 808s and bouncing hi-hats, “POP MY SHIT” pairs NAV and Frost in a back-and-forth performance shaped by their long history of making music together. Despite not featuring on a NAV song before, the two are longtime best friends who worked together before NAV’s career as a recording artist took off, with Frost initially serving as the artist while NAV produced his beats and handled recording and engineering. Frost has remained a close creative collaborator, earning writing credits on songs including “Trimski,” “Good For It,” and “KEEP GOING.” On the new single, they alternate lines and verses about money, status, and luxury.

The release comes before a run of live dates for NAV in late August, September, and early October. Before heading out with Young Thug, NAV is scheduled to perform at Summer Rap Music Festival at Red River Exhibition Park in Winnipeg on August 29. He will then join Young Thug as a special guest across the North American leg of The New Generation Tour, which begins September 1 and runs through October 4. NAV is also set to return home to Toronto on September 12 to headline 6ix Mela Festival at Sobeys Stadium.
