Shania Twain Releases Multi-Format ‘The Woman In Me: Diamond Edition’

Shania Twain has today (2) released The Woman In Me: Diamond Edition, in recognition of the 25th anniversary of her 1995 breakthrough album. The Canadian superstar had shared the news in August, during a performance on Good Morning America.

Mercury Nashville/UMG Recordings’ new edition of the landmark release features a newly-remastered version of the genre-crossing, multi-platinum album. It’s already been described by entertainment-focus.com as “a real treat for fans.” The package also includes previously unreleased tracks, live recordings and early mixes that trace the evolution of an album that had a huge influence on the sound of contemporary country music.

The Woman in Me: Diamond Edition is available in both two- and three-CD configurations. The remastered album also comes in LP and limited-edition color LP versions. The expanded album was previewed by the release of the Any Man Of Mine digital EP, which includes the remastered album track, the Live From Las Vegas version, and the Shania Vocal Mix.

The three-CD box set version of The Woman In Me: Diamond Edition includes 16 previously unreleased tracks. Five of these are live performances of songs from the original set, recorded in December 2019 during Shania’s residency at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas. There’s also an entire Shania Vocal Mix disc with early takes of 11 songs, captured nearly a year before the album was first released, in February 1995.

The Live & Remixed disc, available on both the two- and three-CD editions, features two tracks captured in September 1998 at Dallas’ Reunion Arena. This was recorded for the Shania: Live DVD that also was carried on DirecTV. Additionally, there are nine remixes illustrating how Twain and producer and then-husband Robert John “Mutt” Lange continued to adapt her sound as it reached into the pop, international and even dance markets.

A quartet of country No.1s

No fewer than eight of the 12 songs from The Woman In Me appeared on Billboard’s country singles chart. Four of them, “Any Man of Mine,” “(If You’re Not in It for Love) I’m Outta Here!” “You Win My Love” and “No One Needs to Know,” went to No.1. “Any Man of Mine” also gave the artist her first US Top 40 crossover pop hit.

The Woman In Me spent 29 weeks at No.1 on the country album chart and was America’s bestselling country album of 1995. The following year, it won a Grammy Award for Best Country Album and was later ranked No.8 on CMT’s list of the 40 Greatest Country Albums.

The Woman In Me: Diamond Edition also contains a 48-page booklet with liner notes by Twain, a 3,000-word essay by pop-culture journalist Eve Barlow and photographs by John Derek, Albert Sanchez, Mark Tucker, Bo Derek and Alexander E. Harbaugh.
