Listen To Sydney Rose’s New EP ‘It Was My First Time’
The five-track Mercury Records release includes ‘My First Time,’ ‘Track Team,’ and focus track ‘Proof.’
Sydney Rose has released her new EP, It Was My First Time. The five-track Mercury Records collection explores her first experience of falling in love with a close friend and the heartbreak that followed. The Georgia-born, Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist draws on a friendship from her high school years, revisiting the mixed signals and betrayal that shaped the project.

“It Was My First Time is all about the confusion and anxiety that comes with liking someone you really care about,” Rose said. “I had never felt so intensely about someone and they gave me so many mixed signals that made me spiral, wondering if I was even good enough for anyone. These songs encapsulate very vulnerable and strong emotions for me. I love these songs.”
The EP’s focus track, “Proof,” arrives with a visualizer and takes Rose’s songwriting in a more pop-oriented, upbeat direction. Elsewhere, the project draws on acoustic guitar, strings, and piano. Rose previewed the collection with “My First Time” and its official music video, returning to the friendship at the center of the EP. That song uses the acoustic instrumentation to recount the relationship’s aftermath. The collection also includes “Track Team,” which preceded the EP earlier this year.
It Was My First Time follows Rose’s 2025 Mercury Records debut EP, I Know What I Want, and her breakthrough single “We Hug Now.” Earlier this year, she released a live performance of that song to mark its first anniversary. Her recent live appearances have included a sold-out I Know What I Want headline tour across the U.S. and Europe in 2025 and a performance at BST Hyde Park on a bill with Noah Kahan, Gracie Abrams, and FINNEAS. She also performed at Rolling Stone’s inaugural Stateside Festival and completed a run of U.S. shows supporting Mon Rovîa.
