UMC/Polydor have announced vinyl reissues of a quartet of key titles from Snow Patrol’s back catalogue. Double-disc editions of A Hundred Million Suns, Eyes Open and Fallen Empires are now available, as is a new single disc reissue of Final Straw. All the albums feature their original track listings.

Initially released in August 2003, the band’s breakthrough third album Final Straw is notable for bringing Snow Patrol their first mainstream success outside of their native countries of Northern Ireland and Scotland. In the 14 months following its release, a total of 5 singles were drawn from it, including the Top 5 UK hit ‘Run’. It is the first Snow Patrol album to feature lead guitarist Nathan Connolly and the last to feature bassist Mark McClelland.

Produced by U2/R.E.M. collaborator Jacknife Lee, the band’s fourth album Eyes Open was released in May 2006, going on to become the UK’s biggest selling album release of that year. Going 8 x platinum, it topped the British Top 40 album chart and sold over 6 million copies worldwide. Its tracklist includes the enduring UK Top 10 singles ‘You’re All I Have’ and ‘Chasing Cars’.

Also a collaboration with Jacknife Lee, Snow Patrol’s fifth album A Hundred Million Suns was the result of sessions at Ireland’s Grouse Lodge Studios and also at Berlin’s legendary Hansa Ton. The album was originally released in October 2008 and reached No. 2 in the UK. Going platinum in the UK and triple platinum in Ireland, the album included the smash hit singles ‘Take Back The City’ and ‘Crack The Shutters’.

Fallen Empires is Snow Patrol’s 6th studio album. It was originally released on 11 November 2011 and became the first to feature future member Johnny McDaid, who was credited as guest musician and songwriter in the album liner notes, and would officially join the band following the tour in support of the album. Again well-received critically and commercially, Fallen Empires peaked at No. 3 in the UK and featured the singles ‘Called Out In The Dark’ and ‘This Isn’t Everything You Are’.

The new vinyl editions of Final Straw, Eyes Open, A Hundred Million Suns and Fallen Empires are out now and can be bought here.
