Hans Zimmer To Score Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ Remake

Filming is now underway on Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated reboot of the 1984 epic sci-film film Dune, with Hans Zimmer set to score, reports Collider.
Both the original Frank Herbert novel and iconic 1984 David Lynch film remain sci-fi classics and today Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have shared more details including Zimmer’s hiring. Zimmer scored Villeneuve’s last feature, 2017’s Blade Runner 2049, another adaption of a beloved sci-fi touchstone.
Since its original release in 1965, Dune is still considered one of the most influential sci-fi books of all time and earned the Hugo Award a year after its release.
Starring in the lead role of Paul Atreides is Timothée Chalamet and will be joined by Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Stellan Skarsgard as Vladimir Harkonnen, Rebecca Ferguson as Jessica Atreides, Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban, Zendaya as Chani, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, David Dastmalchian as Piter De Vries and Charlotte Rampling as Reverend Mother Mohiam.
While the primary cast was previously announced, the studio also shared new additions including Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon star Chang Chen as Dr Wellington Yueh and Fences star Stephen Henderson.
Villeneuve wrote the script along with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts. Although the film won’t hit theatres until 20 November 2020, the studio has shared the official synopsis of the adaptation.
“A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.
