Iggy Pop has announced an exclusive London live show due at the Barbican Centre in London. The iconic artist, who released his latest album Free through Loma Vista Recordings in September, will make a one-off appearance in the UK capital as part of The EFG London Jazz Festival.

The legendary artist will perform his new record in its entirety at the Barbican Centre on Thursday, 21 November. It serves as his only UK date of the year. Tickets are due to go on general sale to the public this coming Friday, 4 October at 10 am BST. Visit the artist’s official website for more information.

The Barbican announcement comes after Iggy Pop unveiled the official video to his latest single, ‘Loves Missing’, last weekend. Directed by Simon Taylor, the new clip offers an intimate performance from the singer.

Speaking about Free earlier this summer, Pop described his 18th solo LP as “an album in which other artists speak for me, but I lend my voice”.

He explained: “I know that that freedom is only something you feel, but I have lived my life thus far in the belief that that feeling is all that is worth pursuing; all that you need – not happiness or love necessarily, but the feeling of being free. So this album just kind of happened to me, and I let it happen.”

Free has attracted considerable critical acclaim, with the NME review declaring “Free is a liberating collection that unshackles the star from his past and his insecurities, and slowly cracks open a door to version of the future that will inevitably arrive when he’s ready.”

From breaking new grounds in punk rock with The Stooges to his radio show at BBC 6 Music, Iggy Pop has always challenged norms, defied expectations and has been a major influence on countless musicians from a wide range of genres. Building on years of jazz collaborations with the likes of Medeski Martin and Wood, singing on Jamie Saft, Steve Swallow and Bobby Previte’s Loneliness Road, and his jazz, chanson and literature influenced 2009 album Préliminaires.

Free is out now and can be bought here.
