Bid For Final Tickets For Eric Clapton’s Sellout Ginger Baker Tribute
International disability charity Leonard Cheshire, which will receive proceeds from the concert, has announced that a number of tickets are available to bid for.
Music fans who missed out on tickets for the upcoming concert celebrating the music of Ginger Baker, curated by his old friend Eric Clapton, now have the chance to bid to be there via a charity auction.
Tickets for Eric Clapton & Friends: A Tribute to Ginger Baker, which takes place on Monday 17 February at London’s Eventim Apollo Hammersmith, sold out within minutes of going on sale on 29 November. But the international disability charity Leonard Cheshire, which has close ties to the Baker family and which will receive proceeds from the concert, has now announced that a number of tickets are available to bid for by auction.
An auction link has been published, to remain live until 12 February, at which fans can bid for eight pairs of seated tickets and 17 pairs of standing tickets for the once-in-a-lifetime show. The set list for the one-off concert will honour Baker’s musical legacy and will, naturally, include plenty of celebration of Clapton and Baker’s work together in both Cream and Blind Faith. The full artist line-up will be announced soon.
Proceeds from the auction will allow Leonard Cheshire to offer further life-changing support to more disabled people around the world. Based in the UK, the charity’s projects and services support disabled adults and children to live, learn and work as independently as they choose. Baker’s father died during World War II, and Ginger had an early love of the RAF. It’s no coincidence that his first band in his own name, after Blind Faith’s split, was called Air Force.
The organisation was founded in 1948 by Royal Air Force officer Leonard Cheshire, with a residential home for disabled ex-servicemen at Le Court, a large country house near Liss in Hampshire. By the mid-1950s, there were six Cheshire homes in Britain, followed by the first overseas Cheshire Home in Mumbai, India, in 1956. The charity now has hundreds of homes in scores of countries worldwide.
