Lady Gaga has officially postponed the release of her sixth studio album, Chromatica, amid the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. In a heartfelt letter to her fans on social media today, the artist also revealed that she had been planning a secret set at the Coachella Festival, which has since been moved back to October.

“Please know that I’m thinking of you all. I wanted to tell you, that after a lot of deliberation, I’ve made the incredibly tough decision to postpone the release of Chromatica. I will announce a new 2020 release date soon”, said Gaga of her album, which was initially slated for a 10 April release date via Interscope.

“This is such a hectic and scary time for all of us, and while I believe art is one of the strongest things we have to provide joy and healing to each other during times like this, it just doesn’t feel right to me to release this album with all that is going on doing this global pandemic. Instead, I prefer that we spend this time focusing on finding solutions. It’s important to me that the attention is on getting essential medical equipment to healthcare professionals, making sure kids who depend on public schools for meals get the assistance they need, and that we help those who will be financially impacted by this pandemic.”

Gaga also confirmed to fans that several of her forthcoming Las Vegas residency dates at the MGM Grand (30 April – 11 May) have been postponed. However, she added, “I’m hopeful that my other Vegas shows in May will continue”.

On a positive note, there are no plans as of yet to reschedule any dates on “The Chromatica Ball” tour, which kicks off 24 July in Paris. Gaga also teased additional surprises to come throughout the album’s campaign, and declared:

Chromatica is still very much on the way and I can’t wait.” She also shared one last sentiment with her Little Monsters, writing, “As a family we are strong, we are loving and we are the kindness punks…When the album does come out, I want us to be able to dance together, sweat together, hug and kiss each other, and make it the most bombastic celebration of all time.”

The artist recently offered fans a first taste of Chromatica with her dance-pop anthem, ‘Stupid Love’. The single debuted at No.5 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her highest debut on the chart since 2011’s ‘The Edge Of Glory’.
