A small run of performances, in support of Swift’s 2019 Lover album, was originally set to go ahead last year. Due to the ongoing pandemic, they were postponed in April 2o20. There has been no news yet as to whether the performances will run at a later date.

‘News I’m sad about’

|In the post, Swift apologized to her fans for being unable to provide positive news. “It’s not my favorite thing in the world to have to tell you the news I’m sad about.” The singer-songwriter closed the tweet commenting that the pandemic has “changed everyone’s plans” and that “no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future.”

Swift’s words echo the uncertainty that many in the industry feel, torn between the dilemma of needing to return to how the music industry used to be, but the equally urgent need to be safe while the pandemic continues to envelop the world.

Since the release of her Lover album, Swift dropped two surprise albums, evermore and folklore. The singer had recently announced that she was undertaking the immense feat of re-recording six of her studio albums, beginning with her debut, Fearless. The superstar then broke new ground with the release of her re-recorded debut hit “Love Story (Taylor’s Version).” The new version earned 5.8 million on-demand streams on release day and was downloaded 10,000 times in 24 hours.

Last week, she joined Haim on a remix of their song “Gasoline,” which was included on the expanded version of the trio’s album Women In Music Pt. III.
