Roxy Music’s ‘For Your Pleasure’ To Receive Deluxe Reissues

Roxy Music’s seminal 1973 album For Your Pleasure is set to be re-released in a number of formats and editions, both on CD and vinyl.

The classic 2LP version features the original album plus AIR Studios outtakes on 140g black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. The 2LP pressed to Blue Pearl vinyl is a limited edition and comes with the AIR Studios outtakes and is housed in a gatefold sleeve, too.

On CD, the release is available in both 3CD + DVD and 2CD sets. The former includes the original album, singles, and instrumentals; unheard songwriting demos, rehearsals, and live sessions; TV and live performances from 1972–1973; and a 116-page book with new essays and rare photography. The 2CD package is highlighted by the original album, plus AIR Studios outtakes, singles, and BBC sessions, showcased in a hardcover digibook with a new essay and unseen images.

The band’s second studio album was released via Island Records and was notably the last to feature legendary musician and producer Brian Eno as a bandmember. Led by Bryan Ferry, the group also included Eno, Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera, and Paul Thompson. It was a hit in the band’s home of England, landing at number four on the UK Album Charts and earning Gold status.

Throughout the years, For Your Pleasure has remained an art rock classic and is perhaps as influential today as it was upon release. In a 2022 interview with The Guardian, Ferry reflected on the project. When asked about his favorite Roxy Music LP, he said: “The first album was interesting and obviously pointed to several different directions, but For Your Pleasure was a big album for me. We’d been on the road and were much more experienced and integrated. We recorded in Air Studios with engineers in lab coats, high above Oxford Street, with people running around below. It felt like the center of everything. The album just felt more mature: darker, with better singing.”
