Amy Winehouse Band Announces One-Night-Only ‘Back To Black 20’ Show
The special guest-filled concert will be led by the album’s original producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi.
The Amy Winehouse Band will reunite for a one-night-only celebration of Back To Black at London’s Roundhouse on October 21, marking 20 years of Amy Winehouse’s landmark second album.
The concert will bring together members of Winehouse’s former band, original album producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, and a lineup of guest vocalists that they’ve hand-picked. The Amy Winehouse Band will perform Back To Black in full, alongside Winehouse’s longtime musical director Dale Davis, producers Paul O’Duffy and p*nut, and Darcus Beese OBE.
Among the announced special guests are Baby Rose, Corinne Bailey Rae, FLO, Jessie Reyez, Jorja Smith, Lianne La Havas, Nia Smith, Sasha Keable, Skye Newman, and Yebba.
“I’m honored to be asked to come celebrate Amy alongside Salaam and some amazing artists worthy of singing her songs,” Ronson said in a statement. “Doing justice to the legacy of Back To Black is the order of the night.” Remi added, “Funny how time flies! I can’t believe it’s been 20 years already. I’m excited to see what these ladies bring to their versions of these songs we know and love.”
The Roundhouse performance will also be broadcast on BBC Two in late October as part of a special night of programming celebrating the late singer, as well as on BBC Radio 2 on October 26 from 7-9 pm during Jo Whiley’s show.
Back To Black, originally released in October 2006, remains renowned as a musical masterpiece. In the UK, the album debuted at No. 3 and later reached No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart before becoming the best-selling album of 2007. In the US, the album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 before peaking at No. 2. At the 2008 Grammys, Winehouse won Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Rehab,” Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best New Artist.
To commemorate the album’s 20th anniversary, Republic/UMe will reissue it in a series of special formats on October 23, including a 3LP clear-vinyl edition, 3CD edition, and digital deluxe edition. The collection gathers four unreleased demos, rare B-sides, and a live performance recorded at Paradiso in Amsterdam during the Back To Black tour.
A pre-sale for the “Back To Black 20” show is available to fans who pre-order the 20th anniversary edition format of Back to Black from Winehouse’s official artist store by Sep. 28, 12 p.m. BST. The general sale then opens on October 1 at 10 am.
