Frou Frou’s ‘Details’ Gets Expanded Reissue On Ghost Galaxy Vinyl
Nearing its 25th anniversary, Imogen Heap and Guy Sigsworth’s sole album as a duo remains ahead of its time.
As it approaches the quarter-century mark, Frou Frou’s sole album is getting an expanded vinyl reissue. Details is available now as a 2LP set on ghost galaxy color vinyl. Mastered by Levi Seitz at Black Belt Mastering, the reissue includes three bonus tracks, “Old Piano,” “Close Up,” and “Aeroplane.”
Details was singer, songwriter and producer Imogen Heap and songwriter and producer Guy Sigsworth’s only album together as Frou Frou. The 2002 release was a landmark convergence of songwriting prowess and forward-thinking electronic production. Nearly 25 years after its release, it still sounds ahead of its time.
Frou Frou began taking shape in 1996, when Sigsworth encountered a demo recording by a teenage Heap and reached out about working together. Heap appeared on recordings by Sigsworth’s band Acacia, and Sigsworth wrote songs for Heap’s 1998 solo debut album I Megaphone. In 2001, Sigsworth began work on a solo album with the intention of recruiting an assortment of vocalists. After he and Heap collaborated on a track for the project, they decided to form Frou Frou and create a whole album together.

That album became Details. “There is no law stating that electronica has to be cold; it all comes down to how the participants decide to use technology,” Alex Henderson wrote in a 4.5-star review at All Music Guide. “And technology is used in a very human way on Details.” Lead single “Breathe In” cracked the UK singles chart, and the video for “The Dumbing Down of Love” was honored as best video at RESFest.
Frou Frou got a further visibility boost when Zach Braff included the Details track “Let Go” as the closing song in Garden State. The movie’s soundtrack won a Grammy and became a cultural sensation, helping Frou Frou’s music to reach an even broader audience. “So many people found out about us from that,” Heap later told The Ringer.
