Girl Group Release New Single ‘SAVIOUR/FATHER/PRINCE’
The single pairs electroclash with a protest-song take on mansplaining.
Girl Group have released their new single, “SAVIOUR/FATHER/PRINCE,” on BOYS BOYS BOYS. The track brings together underground pop and raucous electroclash, using a deliberately exaggerated character to challenge assumptions about gender and authority.

The band describe the song as “a protest song about mansplaining.” Its speaker initially adopts the voice of a woman cast as helpless and submissive, then turns that expectation around. Girl Group say the tone grows increasingly domineering as the song progresses, making the shift in power part of the song’s humor as well as its argument. The group characterize the role reversal as something they “find rather fun,” a sardonic edge that sits alongside the track’s social commentary.
Katya, Maria, Mia and Lil formed the band in Liverpool in 2024 after meeting as students. They began with a shared interest in having fun and a desire to respond to what they describe as “boys’ club fatalism,” as well as curiosity about what a new band could mean for their generation. Girl Group have developed their sound through house parties and club nights, releasing three EPs along the way. Their early work includes Think They’re Looking Let’s Perform! and little sticky pictures.
The group maintain a DIY approach, writing and producing their music and directing their own creative work. Their first single, “Yay Saturday!,” introduced a looser, party-minded side of the project. More recently, they released live recordings of “She Goes” and “Rage Song.” Girl Group are also on their debut UK and European headline tour, where venue upgrades and added dates have followed demand. The tour has included two sold-out London shows and an additional matinee date.
