Chase Shakur Releases New Single ‘Highly Favored’
The Atlanta singer pairs the single with a laundromat-set visualizer that plays out like a late-night flirtation.
Chase Shakur has released the new single “highly favored” via Def Jam Recordings. The track pairs his melodic vocals with atmospheric R&B production and understated trap influences. Its lyrics move between intimate reflection and declarations of devotion, presenting romance as a relationship built on mutual confidence and the freedom to be vulnerable.

Shakur describes the song as a portrait of recognizing someone’s light and seeing how they change over time. Rather than focusing only on the excitement of a new connection, “highly favored” also considers the growth that can come from sharing that connection with another person. “I hope this song heals you the way it healed me,” Shakur said.
An accompanying visualizer places the pair in a laundromat late at night. They flirt, dance, and joke around between the machines, giving the clip a relaxed, everyday setting. Its small gestures and playful exchanges reflect the chemistry at the center of the song, while keeping the focus on the couple’s interaction.
The single follows Shakur’s 2025 debut album, WONDERLOVE+, which arrived after the earlier WONDERLOVE project. The album cycle includes collaborations with Smino, Odeal, and Girlfriend. Shakur’s previous releases include the 2022 EP It’ll Be Fine and the 2023 EP It’s Not You It’s Me. Across those projects, he has explored love and its changing dynamics, themes that also inform “highly favored.”
