Kenny Whitmire Releases New Single ‘Leavin’ Lucy Lonesome’
The song pairs road-worn lyrics with a homeward-looking story, written by Whitmire, Dan Alley, and Sam Banks.
Kenny Whitmire has released the new single “Leavin’ Lucy Lonesome,” a song about the pull of home after life on the road. Whitmire wrote it with Dan Alley and Sam Banks, and John Osborne of Brothers Osborne produced it.

The song sets the energy of playing shows against the quieter prospect of returning to his wife. Whitmire said the idea came from the drive home after performing. “As fun as it is being out on the road with the boys playing country music, by the end of it I’m always more than ready to get back home to my woman,” he said. “Decided I needed a fun, light hearted way to talk about that journey home and how it usually feels and sounds haulin’ butt home to my ‘Lucy.’”
The release arrives as Whitmire and his wife, Lindsey, prepare for the birth of their first child, a girl, in March 2027. “My wife and I are thrilled to have our first on the way,” he said. “We’re very grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness and can’t wait to start a new journey.”
“Leavin’ Lucy Lonesome” follows “Woman To Blame,” which Whitmire released last month. He is currently supporting Hudson Westbrook on the Hits Me Tour, following his own Ain’t Hard Livin’ Tour and four dates on Luke Bryan’s Farm Tour 2026 earlier this fall. Whitmire has also been announced as support on Emily Ann Roberts’ The Thread Tour in 2027.
