Perez said the song gave her a way to bring personal experience into the world of the film. “It is truly an honor to have created a song for The Hunger Games. I’ve been greatly impacted by the stories told through The Hunger Games since I was 12 years old. Writing this song allowed me to share another part of who I am, drawing from my own experiences with grief and the longing to reconnect with the ones I love who are no longer on this earth. It is a privilege to share something so personal within a story that has meant so much to me for so long,” she said.

The soundtrack includes 29 artists and previously unreleased music created for the film’s setting and characters. GRAMMY-winning producer Dave Cobb is executive producer. The tracklist also includes music by The Smashing Pumpkins and Noah Kahan, alongside songs such as “Dove Song,” “The Wheel” and “Deep in the Meadow.”

The film is set 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games. It follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy on the day of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell, when twice as many tributes are sent into the arena. Based on Suzanne Collins’ novel, the film stars Joseph Zada as Haymitch and Mckenna Grace as fellow tribute Maysilee Donner.
