“Life of the Party” pairs an acoustic guitar progression with a steady groove, handclaps, layered harmonies, and electric guitar. Its lyrics focus on the surprise and pleasure of a new relationship. The EP closes with “What If It Happens,” a song that imagines a lasting romance against an apocalyptic backdrop. Acoustic guitar supports the chorus, which pictures two people watching the stars together as the world falls apart.
The tracklist also includes “I Loved, I Lost,” “Think Twice,” and “Head First.” Linley’s previous releases include the kill all my feelings EP in 2022, the magic EP in 2023, and his debut album, Don’t Cry Because It’s Over. The new collection follows that album and brings together songs written in Airbnbs and friends’ studios around the world.
Linley is supporting MICO on a North American tour. The remaining dates are Nov. 2 at Paradise Rock Club in Boston and Nov. 3 at Fete Music Hall in Providence, Rhode Island. The tour also included recent stops at Webster Hall in New York and Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
