ABBA Back In The Studio, Share Pictures Of New Recording Session
The iconic quartet have new songs slated for release, with the first ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ set for release in December.
Swedish pop legends ABBA were yesterday pictured working in the studio as they prepare to unleash two brand new tracks. The first, ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ is set for a December release, with another to follow. The photos of the recording session appeared on Instagram, with the first depicting Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson sat at their Stockholm studio’s mixing desk and the second showing Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog as they sang.
The iconic quartet, famed for hits including ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Super Trouper’ and ‘Take A Chance On Me’ confirmed they were going back to work in April and yesterday’s social media pictures from their recording session hailed as “the pics we have all dreamed of…the circle is now complete for ABBA and their fans” by fan Gerard Hayes. Another fan, Trevor Ashman, commenting on the band’s new tracks, wrote: “I bet they will be the Christmas Number Ones.”
Famously comprised of two married couples, ABBA won the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Waterloo’ and went on to sell more than 380 million albums and singles globally. They split in 1983 following a break in 1982. However, the quartet reunited after last year they decided to put on a ‘virtual reality tour’, which starts in 2019. The tour will see avatars of the group at their prime.

Announcing the tour, Abba said: “The decision to go ahead with the exciting avatar tour project had an unexpected consequence. We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. It was like time had stood still and that we had only been away on a short holiday.”
Elsewhere in ABBA news, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus are also enjoying a revival of their musical Chess, which opened in London’s West End last month to rave reviews.
