Beastie Boys Drop ‘Shake Your Rump’ And ‘Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun’ Remixes
This marks the first time these remixes and B-sides have ever been released digitally.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1989 landmark album Paul’s Boutique, The Beastie Boys have released two additional digital EPs of rarities from that era.
The monthlong rollout concludes with the release of remixes of ‘Shake Your Rump’ and ‘Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun’ today, following the previously dropped Love American Style, An Exciting Evening at Home with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Hey Ladies and Shadrach, which came out 19 July and 26 July, respectively.
This marks the first time these 21 remixes and B-sides have ever been released digitally. All of these remixes were initially part of the Criterion two-disc The Beastie Boys DVD Video Anthology originally released in 2000, that collected 18 of the group’s videos along with 40 remixes of their original hits.
Along with collaborating with various DJs from around the scene include Truly Odd, J-Rocc and DJ Cheapshot (Styles of Beyond, Get Busy Committee), the collection also features the Beastie Boys side project The Latch Brothers, consisting of Mike Diamond, Chris Wagner of Mary’s Danish, and Kenny “Tick” Salcido, who worked at the Beastie’s sub-label Grand Royal and its accompanying magazine of the same name.
Surviving members of the famed Brooklyn trio, Mike Diamond (Mike D) and Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock) have had a busy year, promoting their brilliant memoir, The Beastie Boys Book and releasing a digitally expanded version of To The 5 Boroughs this past June. They also recently unveiled a vegan shoe collection with Adidas last week.
