To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their landmark second album Paul’s Boutique, the Beastie Boys will be releasing six rare EPs from that era on streaming services.

Starting today, fans can hear both 1989 EPs, An Exciting Evening At Home With Shadrach, Meshach And Abednego and the Love American Style , which features two Paul’s Boutique tracks (‘Hey Ladies’ and ‘Shake Your Rump’) along with the B-sides ‘Dis Yourself in ’89 (Just Do It)’ and ‘33% God’.

Then, over the course of three weeks, the remaining four EPs will hit steaming services that boast rare B-sides, remixes and live versions. Remixes of the singles ‘Hey Ladies’ and ‘Shadrach’ will arrive on 26 July, while remix versions of ‘Shake Your Rump’ and ‘Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun’ will be released on 2 August.

Released on 25 July 1989, Paul’s Boutique not only represented a giant creative leap forward for Adrock, Mike D and MCA but signalled a sea change in hip-hop. While the sample-based Dust Brothers production would be impossible in today’s legal/financial world, Paul’s Boutique took the art of sampling to another level.

Now 30 years later, it’s considered a hip-hop classic and holds an esteemed place on every top album list including Pitchfork’s “Top 100 Albums of the 1980s,” Time Magazine’s “100 Greatest Albums of All TIME” and Rolling Stone’s “Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

Last month, the Beastie Boys also marked the 15th anniversary of To the 5 Boroughs with the digital release of 12 rare tracks culled from that 2004 album’s overseas singles.

An Exciting Evening At Home With Shadrach, Meshach And Abednego EP can be bought here, along with the Love American Style EP.
