Billie Eilish has released “Lo Vas A Olvidar,” her highly anticipated collaboration with Barcelona sensation singer-songwriter Rosalía via Darkroom/Interscope Records.
The song, sung almost entirely in Spanish, arrives with a dimly lit official music video directed by Nabil. The cameras orbit around Eilish and Rosalía as they recite the softly sung lyrics of each verse and as dramatic winds disturb the air around them during the chorus. “¿Lo vas a olvidar? Can you let it go? Can you let it go?” they sing over each other’s vocals in a seamless overlap.
“Obviously, a lot of it is in Spanish, which I think is so important,” Eilish told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, recalling a moment in the writing process when Rosalía suggested “Lo Vas A Olvidar” be recorded in English. “I was like “no, no no, it should be in Spanish, it’s so beautiful. She told me what the lyrics mean and then it meant even more ‘cause I was like, that’s beautiful and the delivery’s beautiful and the emotion is beautiful.”
Fans had been anticipating a collaboration between the two Grammy Award-winning artists since Rosalía first teased the track during a Rolling Stone interview in 2019. “I felt less alone being in the studio with her,” she said at the time. “I’ve been in the studio with a lot of people, but no one has impressed me [the way] she has. She has extreme charisma and extreme passion when she sings.”
A glimpse of “Lo Vas A Olvidar” was offered earlier this week when the song appeared in the trailer for HBO’s hit show EUPHORIA ahead of its upcoming special episode “Part 2: Jules.” The track’s melancholic tone is a perfect fit for the emotional storyline of the drama series.
Eilish’s first musical release of the year comes ahead of the world premiere of her documentary film Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry which is set to be released in theaters and online through Apple TV+ on February 26. “Lo Vas A Olvidar” follows her most recent single “Therefore I Am.”
