Blood Orange, Robert Glasper, Jessie Reyez, Ne-Yo and more are among an exciting line-up of artists who will perform during Black Power Live, a virtual benefit taking place this Saturday, 27 June, on Twitch.
The event is produced by FORM and Jammcard and will be hosted by Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors and will feature conversations with black artists and organizers, as well as a number of musical performances from Miguel, Doja Cat, Kamasi Washington, Vagabon, Denzel Curry, Ian Isiah, and Twin Shadow, among others.

The event will also see the debut of a new work from Terrace Martin featuring Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, Alex Isley, Denzel Curry, G Perico and Daylyt. The work is called ‘Racism on Trial’.
Martin, Glasper and Washington also recently debuted their new supergroup, Dinner Party, that also features 9th Wonder. The politically pointed track, ‘Freeze Tag’, will appear on Dinner Party’s self-titled debut album, out 10 July via Sounds of Crenshaw/Empire.
Per a press release, Black Power Live is meant to be “a celebration of the incredible work done by organizers and activists around the world and will be a chance to reflect, regroup and talk about next steps”.
The event will stream live on Twitch and start at 5:00 p.m. PST/8:00 pm EST and wrap at 12:00 am PST/3:00 am EST. Funds raised from Black Power Live will benefit the Crenshaw Dairy Mart, Trap Heals, Transgender Law Center, Sankofa and Black Men Build.
Additional performers include Aloe Black, Serpentwithfeet and hardcore outfit HO99O9 who will perform two new songs with blink-182’s Travis Barker on drums.
Meanwhile featured activists participating are Parkland survivor Emma González, Dear White People creator Justin Simien and author and filmmaker Dream Hampton, who served as executive producer on the 2019 documentary series, Surviving R. Kelly.
