Carly Rae Jepsen Shares New Single ‘Don’t Leave Me On The Dance Floor’
The track pairs abandonment fears with club-ready production inspired by a visit to ABBA Voyage.
Carly Rae Jepsen has released “Don’t Leave Me on the Dance Floor,” the first track she has shared from the night half of her forthcoming double album Day and Night. The 24-track album is due September 18 via Interscope Records.
Jepsen wrote “Don’t Leave Me on the Dance Floor” with producers CJ Baran and Arthur Besnainou. The song pairs lyrics about fear of abandonment with a club-focused arrangement, reflecting the album’s split between the sunlit, left-field pop of its day side and the more maximalist dance direction of night. Jepsen said the idea took shape after recording in Sweden and traveling to London to see ABBA Voyage. “I came home with a mission of making my own ABBA-esque pop song,” she said, adding that she wanted “a hook that made you feel like you had to participate and sing along.”

The accompanying video marks the music video directorial debut of playwright, actor and screenwriter Jeremy O. Harris, whose Slave Play received 12 Tony nominations. Alden Ehrenreich stars alongside Jepsen, with Olivia Washington playing his lover. After a difficult phone call, Ehrenreich’s character enters a dance hall and moves through a choreographed performance as Jepsen sings beneath a disco ball and chandeliers. Marc Crousillat, whose recent credits include Clairo’s “Terrapin” video and Harris’ Spirit of the People, served as choreographer. Harris said the song made him think about relationships “on the brink” and the effort involved in staying together.
The release comes ahead of Jepsen’s September 27 headline appearance at New York City’s All Things Go Festival, which an announcement identifies as her first live performance of 2026. “On Wires” and “After All” introduced the Day and Night era earlier this year, with Clash highlighting the tension in “On Wires” and Consequence describing “After All” as warm and lived-in. Jepsen’s catalog includes 2012’s “Call Me Maybe,” which topped charts in more than 47 countries and earned two Grammy nominations, and 2015’s E•MO•TION, which has surpassed one billion streams worldwide. Her later albums include 2019’s Dedicated, 2022’s The Loneliest Time, and the B-sides collections E•MO•TION Side B, Dedicated Side B, and The Loveliest Time.
