“Rolling Back The Rivers In Time” appears on the group’s fifth studio album, Out Of Control, which became their first studio album to reach No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart. The O2 show was filmed for the 2009 concert release Out Of Control: Live From The O2. It was part of a 32-date arena tour across the UK and Ireland, built around the album and its songs.
The video also adds to a recent run of Girls Aloud archive performances on YouTube. In August and September, the group shared O2 footage of “Sexy! No No No,” “Close To Love,” “Black Jacks,” “Call The Shots,” and “Control Of The Knife,” all filmed during the 2008 Tangled Up Tour. Those uploads featured songs from Tangled Up; this performance turns to the group’s next album era.
Out Of Control is due for an expanded reissue on November 13, marking the album’s 18th anniversary. The release includes rarities, live recordings, remixes, and previously unreleased material. Among the bonus tracks is “Rolling Back The Rivers In Time (James Reynolds Unreleased Single Mix),” giving the newly shared concert footage a direct connection to the reissue.
