The Chemical Brothers, The Horrors Confirmed For Boardmasters Festival
The Chemical Brothers, The Horrors and The Amazons are among the first acts to have been confirmed for the 2018 Boardmasters Festival. Next year’s event will run from 8-12 August, taking place at Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay in Cornwall. Tickets are on sale now at the Boardmasters website.
The Chemical Brothers have been confirmed as the festival headliners and will close the main stage on the festival’s Saturday night, 11 August. They will be joined on the bill by the likes of The Horrors, The Amazons, Craig David and Annie Mac. Also confirmed are HAAi, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Declan McKenna, Tom Walker, Sam Fender, and Bicep.
Andrew Topham, Boardmasters Festival Director, told the NME: “We are delighted to announce The Chemical Brothers as our first headline act for Boardmasters 2018. Following another sell-out year which saw the biggest Boardmasters ever this summer, we are excited to bring more of the most exciting names in music to Cornwall next August. Boardmasters’ unique fusion of the very best in international surfing and music helps to keep Cornwall firmly on the map as the festival sees unprecedented growth year on year. We can’t wait to welcome our incredible community for another summer of thrilling surf and music action across two stunning sites – Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay.
Boardmasters Festival is an annual event in Cornwall. Usually held over four days in mid-August. The festival has a heritage that goes back to 1981 and a current capacity of around 50,000. The majority of the music performances take place to the north of Newquay near Watergate Bay. The Men’s Pro 5 Star WQS surf competition takes place on Fistral Beach where a skate ramp is built for the BMX and Skateboard competitions. Other sporting events include The Women’s Open, WSL Men’s Longboard, WSL Women’s Longboard, Boys/Girls Pro Junior and Under 12’s.
2017’s outing was headlined by Two Door Cinema Club, Jamiroquai and Alt-J.
