The Cure have announced four live shows at the Sydney Opera House in May to mark the 30th anniversary of their classic album, Disintegration.

The post-punk icons will play the 1989 album in full for the 30th anniversary at the iconic Australian arts venue, teasing that this will be the “world premiere of these performances” and suggesting that more will follow throughout the world afterwards.

Vivid LIVE is hosting the British band on 24, 25, 27, 28 May 2019 for the exclusive performances. The Sydney Opera House website states that it will be the “world premiere of these 30th anniversary performances”, suggesting that The Cure seem likely to perform other Disintegration anniversary events elsewhere.

Tickets for The Cure’s shows are offered via a ballot on the Sydney Opera House website with successful customers able to buy tickets next Thursday, 28 February.

In December last year, frontman Robert Smith confirmed that his iconic band are about to finish their first album in a decade. After previously revealing that the band were working on new material, Smith said that the honour of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had inspired them to finish their first record since 2008’s 4: 13 Dream.

The Cure are playing dozens of festivals this year. The band are also rumoured to be headliners at Glastonbury 2019, while other tipped acts include The Killers, Lana Del Rey, Interpol and many more.

When asked about the prospect last year, Smith said: “Yeah, maybe. We haven’t had a happy history with Glastonbury over the years. Although we’ve headlined three times, we’ve never been on the best of terms. I don’t know if they forgive and forget. There are enough other festivals for us to play.”

Aside from the new Australian Disintegration shows, The Cure are set to perform all over the globe during 2019.  Here’s a full list of the band’s itinerary as it currently stands:
