‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again,’ the new song written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin and performed by Elton and Taron Egerton for the soundtrack of the musical fantasy movie Rocketman, is available to stream now. The song gets its radio premiere this morning (16) UK time on BBC Radio 2.

The track comes from the much-anticipated album Rocketman: Music From The Motion Picture, which will be released on 24 May on Virgin EMI and is available now for pre-order. ‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again’ is an uptempo, stomping, Motown-flavoured number which plays over the closing credits of the film and is the latest fitting entry to the extraordinary John-Taupin songbook. The song was co-produced by Giles Martin and Greg Kurstin and recorded at AIR Studios in London and Echo Studio in Los Angeles.

Like the rest of the soundtrack, the new song is the perfect vehicle for Egerton’s powerful vocals, which in turn complement his big screen portrayal of one of the greatest of all singer-songwriters. The album sees the renowned producer-composer Giles Martin reinterpreting and reimagining Elton’s classic songs and tailoring the music to the narrative of the film and to Egerton’s remarkable vocal performances. Their new reading of Elton’s 1972 staple ‘Rocket Man,’ complete with Martin’s majestic new orchestration, is already available.

Martin worked closely with the makers of the film, which is directed by Dexter Fletcher, written by Lee Hall and produced by Matthew Vaughn, David Furnish, Adam Bohling and David Reid. The album was recorded between 2017 and 2019 at Abbey Road Studios and AIR Studios in London. The executive producers of Rocketman: Music From The Motion Picture are Elton John, David Furnish, Matthew Vaughn and Dexter Fletcher.

Rocketman, the story of Elton’s breakthrough years, will be unveiled in a gala world premiere at Cannes Film Festival today (Thursday), with its European premiere on 20 May. The film’s release in cinemas follows on 22 May.

Rocketman: Music From The Motion Picture is released on 24 May. Pre-order it here.
