Eric Clapton is all set to warm up for his Crossroads Guitar Festival with a limited run of tour dates on the West Coast in the fall of 2019.
Before the fifth iteration of the event, which will take place at Dallas’ American Airlines Center on 20-21 September, Clapton will headline three shows in San Francisco (Sept. 11), Las Vegas (Sept. 13) and Phoenix (Sept. 14).
Clapton’s band for the tour includes guitarists Doyle Bramhall II and Paul Carrack, bassist Nathan East, drummer Steve Gadd and keyboardist Chris Stainton along with Sharon White and Katie Kissoon on backing vocals.
The Crossroads Guitar Festival has assembled a superlative group of axe-slingers, with 2019’s roster boasting Gary Clark, Jr., Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Billy Gibbons, James Bay and more. Clapton is the only artist set to play both nights of Crossroads, whereas every other player is split between Friday and Saturday’s slate of performances.
Proceeds from the two-day event benefit Clapton’s Crossroads Centre, his facility for chemically-dependent persons focused on treatment and education in Antigua. For more information on this year’s Crossroads, please visit the event’s official website.
As uDiscover Music previously reported, the legendary guitarist is also set to play his only UK concerts of 2019 during May. He plays at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 13, 15 and 16 May.
Having first performed at the Royal Albert Hall with The Yardbirds in 1964, Clapton has played at the venue more than 200 times including farewell and reunion gigs with Cream and numerous residencies. In September 2018, he was honoured – along with The Who’s Roger Daltrey – with specially-engraved stones outside the venue.
Eric Clapton plays the following US shows prior to the 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festival:
September 11: San Francisco, CA, Chase Center
September 13: Las Vegas, NV, T-Mobile Arena
September 14: Phoenix, AZ, Talking Stick Resort Arena.
