Halsey and EDM star Marshmello have dropped their hotly anticipated collaboration, ‘Be Kind’, along with a lyric video.
The two artists both shared an animated teaser on their socials featuring the single’s cover art of a swaying daisy.
The sultry track continues Halsey’s steak of infectious break-up songs, following ‘You Should Be Sad’ and ‘Without Me’.
“As soon as we finished the song, I was instantly obsessed!” says Marshmello. “Halsey and I connected and were both on the same page with what we wanted the final outcome to be! And it turned out great.”
The lyrics are equally tender, “I don’t know why you hide from the one, and close your eyes to the one/Mess up and lie to the one that you love,” she sings over Marshmello’s euphoric production.
Along with dropping the new single, the two also shared a new lyric video for ‘Be Kind’, which you can watch below.
Marshmello and Halsey will also be discussing their new single ‘Be Kind’ in an Instagram Live at 12:00 pm PsT on Friday, 1 May.
Halsey’s no stranger to teaming up with smash EDM producers after she broke out on the Chainsmoker’s ‘Closer’ way back in 2016, and recently released a pair of ‘You Should Be Sad’ remixes by Tiësto and Mike Mago in March.
When pressed by fans what they could expect from the new single, the singer answered: “Cute optimistic, heartfelt, dance, summery, and 80s. Me and Mello thought you guys could use the vibes right now,” on Twitter.
Even during quarantine, Halsey has been keeping busy. She recently performed a touching acoustic rendition of her single ‘Finally // beautiful stranger’ off her recent album Maniac, during the star-studded Jersey 4 Jersey benefit show last week.
Meanwhile, Marshmello has been leading his own efforts during self-isolation, launching his ‘Mello After Dark’ live-stream series that saw him play an hour and a half of house hits, with over 500,000 thousand fans tuning in.
‘Be Kind’ marks the second single for the masked producer in recent weeks. In early April he released the new hip-hop track, ‘Been Thru This Before’ featuring Southside, Giggs, and SAINt JHN.
