Country favourites Rascal Flatts have released ‘How They Remember You’ as the lead song from an EP that will follow on 31 July. The song was written by Marc Beeson, Josh Osborne and Allen Shamblin.
The song’s lyric video strikes a nostalgic tone, highlighting the band’s music throughout their career, with album and song art and other images. Watch it here:
In January, the group had announced their farewell Rascal Flatts: Life Is a Highway Tour for this year, marking their 20th anniversary. But in May, they were forced to postpone it because of the coronavirus crisis. The EP is being seen as one of their final releases: Gary LeVox announced in February that the group were working on a new album.
“Some fun surprises”
When they made the tour postponement, Rascal Flatts said: “2020 is still an important year for us as a band and a milestone we want to celebrate with our fans, so please stay tuned for some fun surprises coming your way soon! We love you and can’t thank you enough for being on this journey with us! Thank you for understanding.”
On 1 May, Rascal Flatts released a cover of Kenny Rogers’ ballad hit ‘Through The Years’ in tribute to the country hero, who died on 20 March. The group’s last album, their tenth studio set, was 2017’s Back To Us, which featured a collaboration with Lauren Alaina on the track ‘Are You Happy Now.’
Tomorrow (22) on NBC, the group will perform and be interviewed as part of The Today Show’s 2020 Summer Citi Music Series. They’ll also be part of the three-hour retrospective CMA Best of Fest, hosted by Luke Bryan. The show will feature 25 performances from the last 16 years of CMA Fest, and airs on Thursday, 9 July at 8pm on ABC.
