In celebration of 20 years of Rob Zombie’s foot-stomping, hair-raising, thrill-seeking arsenal of the heaviest rock anthems known to man, UMe are releasing a career-spanning, 180g heavyweight 15LP vinyl box set, plus a series of standalone Rob Zombie vinyl reissues and a new live album, Astro-Creep: 2000 Live, on 30 March.
Each copy of the limited edition, 1,000-only vinyl box set will be signed by Rob Zombie himself. Additionally, each box will be foil-stamp numbered, so no two boxes are alike. The centerpiece of the box features a Zombie-commissioned custom ’70s retro Halloween-style vacuum-formed mask of Rob’s legendary on-stage character, Creeper Robot, housed in a custom box that displays the mask behind a see-through window.
Open the box up and you’ll find all ten Zombie solo studio and live albums, including three titles available on black vinyl for the first time ever; five titles reissued on black vinyl for the first time since their original respective year of release; two titles on heavyweight 180g vinyl for the first time; and one previously unreleased concert, from the September 2016 Riot Fest, during which Zombie performed the classic White Zombie album, Astro-Creep: 2000, in its entirey for the first time ever.
Also inside the box is the custom Creeper Robot 8gb USB stick, which offers up every Zombie album featured in the box as 44.1kHz/16-bit uncompressed digital audio files, five high-quality illustration lithos newly commissioned by Rob Zombie (one of which is signed by Zombie), a Zombie-designed turntable mat and microfibre vinyl cleaning cloth, all of which are exclusive to this box set only.
Also coming on 30 March are six individual album reissues, all on 180g black vinyl (American Made Music To Strip By, Educated Horses, Hellbilly Deluxe, Spookshow International Live, The Sinister Urge and Zombie Live), and one new live release on LP, CD and digital: Astro-Creep: 2000 Live.
Tying together three of his major loves – classic horror films, hard rock and electronic music – Rob Zombie created and released his debut solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe, in August 1998. Featuring his iconic hits ‘Dragula’, ‘Living Dead Girl’ and ‘Superbeast’, Hellbilly Deluxe cemented Rob Zombie as a hugely successful solo artist with over three million album sales and his first Top 5 album chart position in the Billboard 200.
American Made Music To Strip By was Rob Zombie’s first remix album, released by Geffen Records in 1999. Featuring remixes of ‘Dragula,’ ‘Superbeast,’ ‘Living Dead Girl’ and more, American Made Music To Strip By gave listeners a new and exciting taste of their favorite tracks from Hellbilly Deluxe.
Focusing on his love of horror and suspense, Rob Zombie named his second studio album The Sinister Urge after the 1961 film of the same name, directed by Ed Wood. Featuring his third Top 20 Mainstream Rock single, ‘Demon Speeding’, as well as metal juggernauts Ozzy Osbourne (guest vocals on ‘Iron Head’) and Slayer’s Kerry King (additional guitars on ‘Dead Girl Superstar’), plus a flurry of other notable guest musicians, this album has achieved platinum sales status as well as garnering Rob Zombie his second Top 10 album chart in the Billboard 200.
The acoustic, experimental, glam-rock influenced Educated Horses is Rob Zombie’s third album and highest-charting release since Hellbilly Deluxe, making No.5 on the Billboard 200 after its March 2006 release. This album introduced Zombie fans to John 5, Rob’s long-time guitarist, and features ‘Foxy’, ‘American Witch’ and the Grammy-nominated track ‘The Lords Of Salem’, and was classified as Zombie’s most experimental album to date.
Rob Zombie’s first ever live album, Zombie Live, was recorded over several nights during the 2006 Educated Horses Tour and showcases the raw power and chaos of Zombie’s performances, with concert staples such as ‘Living Dead Girl’, ‘More Human Than Human’ and ‘Never Gonna Stop (The Red, Red Kroovy)’. In 2009, the album’s performance of ‘The Lords of Salem’ was nominated for a Best Hard Rock Performance Grammy.
The sequel to Rob Zombie’s first solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe 2 was the artist’s first time recording with his touring band. Zombie’s fourth studio album to debut in the Top 10 on Billboard 200 album chart, it features some of the fastest and hardest rock songs ever bestowed upon metalheads, with songs such as ‘What?’, ‘Devil’s Hole Girls And The Big Revolution’ and ‘Sick Bubblegum’. This album is included in the 15LP box set only.
Zombie continuously experiments with his art forms, and his second remix album, Mondo Sex Head, reflects this. Curated by EDM expert Jason Bentley, 2012’s wave of remix artists were called upon to whip Zombie’s 20 years of classics and newest songs into uncompromising rock/dance anthems, including Jonathan Davis’ (Korn) dubstep-influenced remix of ‘Thunder Kiss ’65’, Photek’s reinvigorated take on ‘Living Dead Girl’ and Ki: Theory’s intoxicating beats behind ‘Foxy, Foxy’.
Rob Zombie’s fifth straight solo album in a row to hit the Top 10 on the Billboard 200, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor was a return to straightforward heavy rock. Critically acclaimed from start to finish, the album found Zombie turning Grand Funk Railroad’s iconic song ‘We’re An American Band’ into his own hard rock anthem while dropping rock bombs on both old and new fans with ‘Dead City Radio And The New Gods of Supertown’ and ‘Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga’.
Spookshow International Live is Rob Zombie’s second live album and features new live versions of 19 tracks recorded on his 2014 tour. Featuring ‘Dead City Radio’, ‘Dragula’, ‘Thunder Kiss ’65’ and ‘Jesus Frankenstein’, this album is the ultimate Rob Zombie live collection.
Zombie described his latest studio effort, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser, as “seriously our heaviest, most f__ked up musical monster to date”. Loudwire described the album as “industrial-tinged metal delivered with his trademark blend of samples, shock, horror and humor”. Rob challenged radio with his kick off single ‘Well, Everybody’s F__ing In A UFO’ and knocks your senses into submission on songs the likes of ‘The Age Of The Consecrated Vampire We All Get High’. Electric Warlock… landed Zombie his sixth consecutive Top 10 Billboard album (for those keeping count, that’s six for six Top 10 studio albums in the Billboard 200).
In addition to these titles, there’s new release Astro-Creep: 2000 Live. Astro-Creep: 2000 was the final studio album by White Zombie and on this live collection is performed front-to-back by Rob Zombie for the first time ever. Featuring ‘Electric Head, Pt.2 (The Ecstasy)’, ‘More Human Than Human’ and ‘Super-Charger Heaven’, this is a stunning take on a fan-favourite album.
