After making her triumphant return with the emotional break-up ballad, ‘Lose You To Love Me’, Selena Gomez surprised fans with a new follow-up, the infectious ‘Look At Her Now’.

Like her comeback single, Gomez co-wrote the song with singer-songwriter Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter, along with Ian Kirkpartrick, who she worked with on ‘Bad Liar’.

“I felt having these two songs released back to back completed the story of how one can rise no matter what challenges life brings,” shared Gomez in a statement. “Turning off the noise and living your life on your terms.”

While ‘Lose You To Love Me’ laid her wounds to bear, with an equally emotionally poignant music video, Gomez switched gears for the dance-pop track with a dance-heavy music video, helmed by acclaimed director Sophie Muller once again, and shot entirely on the new iPhone 11 Pro.

The singer sports a number of glamourous looks in the eye-catching video, from futuristic fembot to go-go dancer and street ready dancer.

On the track, Gomez continues her theme of self-preservation and realising that she was better off ending the relationship.

“Of course she was sad, But now she’s glad she dodged a bullet (Mm)/Took a few years to soak up the tears,
But look at her now, watch her go.”

The singer took to Instagram Live just before the song’s premiere, sharing her excitement about releasing new music again.

“This chapter of my life is gonna fast, epic and full of good things.”

On the previous single, Gomez sings about coming to terms with a toxic relationship that does more harm than good and losing your identity in another person. Despite its sombre tone, she sings about finding herself again in the cathartic chorus.

Yesterday Gomez released the powerful ballad ‘Lose You To Love Me’, that had fans scrambling to decode the raw lyrics and how they related to Gomez’s ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.

After dropping the first single, Gomez addressed her fans on social media, thanking them for their unwavering support.

“Thank you all for standing by my side through the highs and lows. I couldn’t do it without you all and I can’t wait to start my next adventure with you.”

Both songs speak to themes of healing, perseverance and self-discovery. With two new singles out back-to-back, the wait for Gomez’s highly-anticipated album appears to be almost over.
