After posting a few cryptic hints on social media, Selena Gomez has officially announced her comeback single, ‘Lose You To Love Me’, set for release on 23 October.
Fans have been clamouring for new music from the 27-year-old star since she’d taken time off from music to pursue other acting and producing projects, including the recent Netflix series, Living Undocumented.
Gomez posted a childhood photo on Wednesday, with a lyric-like caption,“I gave my all and they all know it,” followed by a stylish black and white shot with another lyric snippet, “Rose-coloured glasses all distorted”.
Then finally, Gomez confirmed new music was on the way with a animated post of a theatre marquee whose sign read, “I saw the signs and ignored it”.
The actress and pop singer confirmed back in June during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that her forthcoming album was finished.
“I’m actually done [my new album],” she told Fallon. “I have to do a few finishing things with it but I’m just relieved. It took me four years now to even feel at a good place with this album, and it’s just because I had such huge moments that happened in my life personally that ‘how was I going to capture that?’ and ‘how was I actually going to feel good about what I was saying?’ So, I just kept going, and I’m relieved.”
While fans can still expect a pop album from the star, she also talked about exploring a “more soulful sound”, and more acoustic guitar instrumentation.
Gomez’s last studio effort was 2015’s Revival, but the multi-talented star has released a number of singles over the years and featured on few as well, including Benny Blanco’s recent single, ‘I Can’t Get Enough’, Gomez, Tainy and J Balvin and Julia Michael’s hit, ‘Anxiety’.
