The third annual ‘Ride For Ronnie’ motorcycle rally and concert paying tribute to the late Black Sabbath, Rainbow and Dio singer Ronnie James Dio takes place on Sunday 7 May 2017.

The event, which benefits the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund, kicks off with a celebrity motorcycle ride from Glendale to Encino in California. It is followed by a rock concert at Encino’s Los Encinos Park, which this year features Eddie Money in addition to an all-star jam led by former Guns’ N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler and more.

Money, who is a close friend of Dio’s widow, Wendy, has performed at all of the Ride For Ronnie events to date.

“Ronnie was always great, man, and what an entertainer!” Money told North America’s ABC Radio, “And Wendy’s such a sweetheart, and she misses her husband so much.”

As for the songs he plans to sing at the event, Money said “I’ll be doing songs like ‘Baby Hold On’, ‘Two Tickets For Paradise’, ‘Take Me Home Tonight’, ‘I Wanna Go Back’ and ‘Gimme Some Water’. It should be a really good show.”

Money went on to add that he felt excited about some of the other acts due to perform at the show, including Lynch Mob, Lita Ford and Dio Disciples. Ford is among the artists who will join the Adler-led jam, which will include performances of some Guns ‘N’ Roses tunes.

The event will also include silent and live auctions, featuring various items of collectible memorabilia. Eddie Money is contributing a jacket from his 2000 Millennium tour.

“It’s fantastic”, says Money of the garment. “It’s leather, it’s really long. It’s a really cool jacket.”

Wendy Dio co-founded the Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund after her husband’s death from stomach cancer in 2010. The organization supports cancer prevention research, and also raises awareness and educates people about the disease.
