The Tragically Hip have announced a commemorative box set of their classic debut Up To Here. Originally released on September 5, 1989, the record features breakthrough Canadian rock radio No.1 singles like “Blow At High Dough” and “New Orleans Is Sinking.” Up To Here earned the band a JUNO Award for “Most Promising Artist” in 1990. The box set is out November 8.

The expanded reissue of Up To Here arrives as a four-LP set on 180g vinyl and features a 2024 remastering of the original album alongside a book documenting the era. It also includes four remastered and previously unreleased tracks from the original recording sessions: “She’s Got What It Takes,” “Get Back Again,” “Rain, Hearts And Fire,” and “Wait So Long.” The reissue also features a recorded version of Live At Misty Moon, a special filmed for MuchMusic in 1990 from the Misty Moon Cabaret in Halifax. A 1-hour film of the concert is also included on Blu-Ray. Finally, the package includes a series of demos from 1988, created prior to the Up To Here sessions. The package is also available as a three-disc CD format.

To mark the occasion, The Tragically Hip will share a new music video for “Get Back Again,” an elusive fan favorite. The song was originally recorded in November 1988 and was produced by Chris Wardman. Until now, the only recorded version of the track was one performed as part of the Live At Misty Moon concert. The new video is directed by Cleveland Henderson, son of Pete Henderson, who had previously directed many videos of the band, including the award-winning “Locked In The Trunk Of A Car” and “Courage (For Hugh MacLennan).”

2024 marks 40 years of The Tragically Hip and the band will celebrate with an exploration of their four decades of work. The anniversary kicked off earlier this year when the band were designated Record Store Day Canada Ambassadors. The rest of the year will see the upcoming release of a four-part Amazon Prime Documentary titled No Dress Rehearsal as well as the book This Is Our Life. Out October 1, the book tells the band’s story in their own words and features more than 300 pages of unseen rarities pulled from the band members’ personal collections.

The Up To Here reissue is the latest in a series of special deluxe reissues from the band. Previous installments include 2021’s Road Apples 30th Anniversary Deluxe Boxset, 2022’s Fully Completely Vinyl Release, and last year’s Phantom Power 25th Anniversary Deluxe Boxset.
