Country hero Luke Bryan has his 12th top ten single on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. ‘Light It Up’ climbs 11-9 on the chart dated 4 November; the mid-tempo song is the lead track from his upcoming Capitol Nashville album What Makes You Country, which is due on 8 December. The song also improves 11-9 on the magazine’s Country Airplay chart, on which it first hit the top ten two weeks ago.
The Georgia-born artist has been a fixture on the bestsellers since his debut hit ‘All My Friends Say’ in 2007. The new album, his sixth studio release, will be the follw-up to 2015’s Kill The Lights, which was certified double platinum by the RIAA in July this year, after going both gold and platinum in February 2016.
The hit song has a new video featuring NBA star (and country music fan) Jimmy Butler of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who’s been a guest at several of Bryan’s shows. Here’s the clip, filmed recently in Nashville.
Ahead of the new album, Bryan is nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the 51st annual CMA Awards, taking place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on 8 November. He won the title in 2014 and 2015; he was nominated for 2016, but lost out to Garth Brooks.
This coming week, Bryan completes three rescheduled shows on his Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ tour. On Thursday (26), he was on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to announce his return to the road for 2018’s What Makes You Country tour. The first leg of the itinerary will begin on 16 February in Springfield, MO, with dates booked until autumn 2018, and more to be announced. Kip Moore and the Cadillac Three will be his special guests on the tour.
