Ziggy Marley Performs ‘Racism Is A Killa’ on ‘Kimmel’
The musician stopped by ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ to perform the track off ‘Brightside.’
Ziggy Marley has shared a new song, “Racism Is A Killa.” The musician and his band performed their latest release on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Hard to detect in early stages/Until the symptoms are seen/The only way to get rid of it/Inject equality,” he sings.

“Racism Is A Killa” appears on Brightside, Marley’s first studio album in eight years. The album fuses reggae, rock, funk, and blues and features Trombone Shorty, Sheila E., Nikka Costa and Jake Shimabukuro.
“Brightside is the next step. It’s really for me. I did this album for myself, and I never thought about it like that until this conversation,” Marley told Billboard. “I made this music for myself, even though I’m sharing it. I listen to this album as if I didn’t make it myself.”
The album was recorded in 432 HZ, which Marley said “is the frequency I’m tuned to now. 440 Hertz is the standard musical tuning. I experimented with 432 Hertz on tour before I did [Brightside], and it just felt good to me. Regardless of what they say it does — it vibrates close to the frequency that human beings do, and it’s also used for meditation — if I didn’t feel how I feel, then I wouldn’t use it. This is the only frequency I’m using from now on.”
Recently, it was announced that Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers’ third album, Conscious Party, is getting a vinyl reissue. Released in 1988, the third album from the project comprising two sons and a daughter of Bob Marley was produced by Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club). It features the hits “Tomorrow People” and “Tumblin’ Down” and won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 1989. The new vinyl release, available for the first time since its initial release, also includes the previously CD-only track, “We A Guh Some Sum Weh.”
In addition to a 1LP 180g emerald green color vinyl, Conscious Party will be reissued on standard black vinyl, CD, and a deluxe digital edition available via streaming services.
