Salaam Remi Honors 50 Years of Bob Marley’s ‘Rastaman Vibration’ With ‘Who The Cap Fit’ Remix
The legendary album by Marley & The Wailers was originally released in 1976.
The celebration honoring fifty years of Bob Marley & The Wailers‘ groundbreaking album Rastaman Vibration continues with a new remix from Salaam Remi. The Queens-born producer has offered up a new version of “Who The Cap Fit,” one of many standout cuts from the 1976 LP.
Remi, who has worked closely with Nas, Amy Winehouse, The Fugees, and many others, said: “Just as many chunes the great Bob Marley left with us, ‘Who The Cap Fit’ has lyrics you didn’t know you needed to hear until you do. It’s one of my favorite Marley songs, and I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to remix it!!!”

Originally released on April 30, 1976, Rastaman Vibration served as a pivotal and breakthrough moment for Bob Marley. The album marked his first Top 10 album in the United States, and included hits like “Roots, Rock, Reggae,” “Positive Vibration,” “Crazy Baldhead,” “Johnny Was,” and “Who The Cap Fit.”
The album was recorded during a now-iconic period within Marley’s career, sandwiched between Live! and Exodus. Rastaman Vibration was recorded in Kingston, Jamaica, and mixed in Miami, Florida by Aston “Family Man” Barrett and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell. The album found a wide audience and led to tour dates from Marley and The Wailers across the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom.
In other 50th anniversary news, Rastaman Vibration was recently reissued as a special limited-edition vinyl release. The collectible edition features a textured LP jacket that recreates the original hemp-inspired packaging and is pressed on exclusive Green Swirl vinyl.
Just last month, Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Roots, Rock, Reggae: Live at the Hammersmith Odeon also celebrated its 50th anniversary with a Deluxe Edition release courtesy of Tuff Gong/Island/UMe. It, too, is available in a number of formats, including 180-gram 2LP Vinyl, an exclusive limited-edition 2LP Color Vinyl, 2CD, digital download, and streaming on all DSPs and an ATMOS mix (where available).
