Country To Country Festival, the 2020 edition of which was one of the first events to fall victim to the coronavirus pandemic, has been rescheduled for the corresponding weekend, 12-14 March, in 2021 in London, Glasgow and Dublin. The three planned headliners for this year’s festival, Luke Combs, Darius Rucker (above) and Eric Church, are all confirmed to fill the same headline roles next year.

A holding statement on Tuesday (24) said that “things are looking much clearer to us in regards to C2C” and that an announcement would be made today. All tickets purchased for C2C 2020 will remain valid for the 2021 event, in the same seats. The rest of next year’s bill is yet to be advised, but organisers say that there will be more announcements about further artists later in the year.

Church will headline in London on the Friday, then in Glasgow on Saturday and Dublin on Sunday. Rucker is the Saturday headliner in London (Dublin Friday, Glasgow Sunday) and Combs tops the London bill on Sunday (Glasgow Friday, Dublin Saturday).

This year’s caravan of Country to Country artists was already in Europe as fears over the intensity of the COVID-19 outbreak grew. The festivals in Berlin (6-8 March) and Amsterdam (7-8 March) took place as scheduled, but by this time the London, Glasgow and Dublin bills were under threat.

US stars Old Dominion, who were due to play the main stages of each on the rotating bills for the three cities, withdrew on 6 March because of health and safety concerns. Hit writers Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose and Lori McKenna, who were all due to be part of the CMA Songwriters Series that traditionally acts as a curtain-raiser to the London event, pulled out the same day.

Promoters AEG Presents did everything in their power to keep the three-city weekend intact, but were forced to postpone it on 12 March, citing “the changing nature of travel policies in other countries alongside possible extended future restrictions.”
