The Weeknd‘s special guest appearance in American Dad! has been previewed in a new trailer. The ‘After Hours’ artist, AKA Abel Tesfaye, has co-written the forthcoming episode ‘A Starboy Is Born’, which is set to air in the US on TBS on Monday, 4 May.

The new American Dad! episode – which, according to a synopsis, will see “Stan abducting The Weeknd to teach Roger a lesson” – has now been previewed with a short trailer that offers a glimpse of Tesfaye’s cartoon appearance in the show as well as Roger performing a version of ‘Starboy’ while dressed as The Weeknd. You can check it out below.

The episode will also include the premiere of a brand new Weeknd track, according to reports. Tesfaye himself has been building up to the broadcast of ‘A Starboy Is Born’ by sharing stills and art from the episode on social media.

In other Weeknd news, the artist recently backed the campaign to get fundraising war veteran Captain Tom Moore’s cover of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ — which features the voices of Michael Ball and The NHS Voices Of Care Choir — to overhaul his song ‘Blinding Lights’ at the top of the UK singles chart.

Writing on Twitter, The Weeknd said: “Everyone in the UK please support @captaintommoore/@mrmichaelball single so this incredible 99 yr old war veteran, walking for the British National HealthService & now raised $35 Million can have a No 1 for his 100th birthday in the UK! We’re routing for you. XO!”

Tesfaye’s efforts bore fruit as ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ topped the UK chart on 24 April, making Captain Tom Moore the oldest-ever artist to top the UK singles chart.

His sponsored walk to raise NHS funds during the coronavirus crisis, for which he set a goal of £1,000, has at this writing realised £28.6 million. Now his Decca single makes Moore the oldest-ever artist to top the UK singles chart.
