While Mötley Crüe’s co-headlining tour with Def Leppard still hangs in the balance, fans can still interact with the band during their official Twitter watch party for their Netflix biopic The Dirt.

The watch party will take place on Friday, 15 May at 4:00 pm PST and will include the band, as well as “special guests”. Fans can follow along with the hashtag #stayhomesweethome.

The band will be providing exclusive, behind-the-scenes commentary on the film throughout the viewing party and will be joined by members from the film’s cast, although no names have been announced.

The Dirt initially debuted on Netflix back in March of 2019 and was based off the band’s best-selling autobiography The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Notorious Rock Band. The film stars Douglas Booth (Nikki Sixx), Machine Gun Kelly (Tommy Lee), Daniel Webber (Vince Neil) and Iwan Rheon (Mick Mars).

Described as a “raunchy, no-holds-barred adaptation of the glam-metal band’s riotous 2001 memoir” by Rolling Stone, The Dirt had a long road from page to screen. A potential Mötley Crüe biopic had been kicking around since 2006, when Paramount and MTV first purchased the rights to the book, which was co-authored with Rolling Stone contributing editor Neil Strauss.

While the film doesn’t stray away from the darker elements of the band’s storied history, director Jeff Tremaine (Jackass, Bad Grandpa) delivered a wild ride with plenty of raunchy humour to spare.

“There’s comedy, there’s tragedy, and it’s a f__king roller coaster emotionally,” Lee told Rolling Stone a few months after shooting. “There’s bummer stuff, some fun, stupid sh_t, and it’s the whole gamut of what the hell we went through then.”

As previously reported, Mötley Crüe were set to embark on a stadium tour in June with Def Leppard and as well as openers Poison and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. While no official cancellation has been announced, the band shared an official statement on their socials earlier this month.

“We wanted to reach out to all of our amazing fans and let you know that we’ve been hard at work preparing an amazing show. Our priority during this unprecedented time is to make sure that we are being as thoughtful and responsible as possible in the decisions we are making regarding The Stadium Tour and that we are putting the fans’ health, well-being and safety first and foremost. We are currently weighing all options and are awaiting further direction from the powers that be.

Our goal is to have an official update to everyone by 1 June outlining exactly how we will proceed. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy.”
