Watch ‘Rocketman’ With Elton John On Amazon Prime Video
Fans will be able to not only watch ‘Rocketman’ tonight, but also read Elton John’s own thoughts and insights as the film plays.
Elton John has announced a Rocketman watch party, for 29 May at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Amazon Prime Video. All fans need to do is hit ‘play’ on the film, which will be streaming on Prime Video and they will be able to not only watch the film, but read Elton John’s own thoughts and insights as the film plays.

Elton John’s official Twitter page issued the following statement, “This Friday, May 29th, join in the party by loading up Rocketman and hitting play at exactly 7pm ET (4pm PT). We’ll be running the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #Rocketman Watch Party, with Elton sharing his own thoughts and insights throughout the film. So make sure to follow Elton and add the hashtag to your tweets so we can all see what you’re saying. If you’re wearing your Rocketman merchandise, let us see!”
This virtual watch party idea has caught on lately as a great way to pass some time during COVID-19 pandemic quarantine. A few weeks back, Motley Crue hosted one of their own geared around the band’s 2019 Netflix biopic The Dirt.
Rocketman was released to theatres on 31 May 2019, so the Rocketman watch party is effectively a one-year anniversary party for the biopic, which stars Taron Egerton as Sir Elton. The film, which came out a year after the Freddie Mercury/Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, eventually earned an Oscar for Best Original Song for ‘I’m Gonna Love Me Again’ for John and his long-time lyricist Bernie Taupin.
“It’s the first time I’ve ever won an award with him, ever,” John said after accepting the award. “We never won a Grammy – we never did anything (award-winning) together except for this.”
“This is really sweet,” Taupin added, “because this is not just about a song we wrote for a movie. It’s about a song we wrote for a movie that deals with our relationship. And it’s a relationship that doesn’t happen very often in this town: It’s a 52-year-old marriage.”
