J. Cole Releases 2-Song Pack ‘Lewis Street’
The two singles will appear on his forthcoming album, ‘The Fall Off.’
J. Cole made his official return, dropping a two-song EP called Lewis Street including, “The Climb Back” and “Lion King on Ice,” and announced his new album, The Fall Off.
Cole produced “The Climb Back,” while “Lion King On Ice” he produced in collaboration with T-Minus and Jetson.
The Fall Off follows Cole’s 2018 studio release, KOD, but no official release date has been confirmed.
“No date for the new album yet, taking my time, still finishing,” J. Cole wrote on Instagram. His manager, Ibrahim “IB” Hamad previously stated that no album was coming “soon,” while Cole dropped hints with a satirical campaign ad telling fans to “Vote for The Fall Off in 2020,” that dropped back in November at the Day N Vegas festival.
The singles are the first the North Carolina rapper has released since his single, “Snow on Tha Bluff.” Following the release of KOD, Cole appeared as a guest on songs by Gang Starr, Young Thug, YBN Cordae, and Big K.R.I.T., and more. He also helmed the Dreamville compilation Revenge of The Dreamers III, which featured Kendrick Lamar, Vince Staples, J.I.D, Young Nudy, DaBaby, EarthGang, Smino, and T.I., among others
The new singles arrived shortly after Cole published a personal essay, titled “The Audacity,” on The Player’s Tribune, which spoke on his college basketball dream and confirmed that the reclusive rapper fathered a second child with his wife.
“Four years have passed,” he writes. “In that time I’ve been blessed with two sons, learned the delicate art of balance between parenthood and career, had the pleasure of working with a ton of talented artists as a featured rapper, spent 10 magical days recording a Dreamville album in Atlanta, and put a lot of time and energy into sharpening my sword and growing as an artist.”
