Carrie Underwood’s ‘My Savior’ Album Of Gospel Hymns Coming In March

Following Carrie Underwood’s announcement in a video message on Christmas Day about her upcoming gospel project, Capitol Nashville has confirmed that the set of hymns, My Savior, will be released on CD and digitally on March 26. A vinyl edition will follow on April 30.

The seven-time Grammy-winner comes to the new record on the heels of her spectacular success with her first Christmas album, My Gift, which topped Billboard’s Country, Christian and Holiday charts. My Savior is co-produced by Underwood and four-time Grammy-winning David Garcia, in a reunion of the teaming that oversaw her 2018 album Cry Pretty.

The cover art for the album of gospel hymns was revealed today, photographed by Joseph Llanes, along with a video trailer.

The album will feature Underwood’s versions of traditional gospel hymns that she grew up singing, and is presented as a spiritual companion to My Gift. “It’s been such a blessing to make music like this, inspirational music that is near and dear to my heart,” she says.

“These two albums have been on my musical bucket list since the beginning of my career and were planned long before the events of the past year, but somehow it feels like the perfect time to share these beloved songs with the world.”

Garcia’s roots are in Christian music, and over the past decade he has amassed more than 20 No.1 songs across a variety of genres. He was ASCAP’s Christian Music Songwriter of the Year in both 2015 and 2019, has written three ASCAP Award winners for Christian Music Song of the Year, and won a total of nine Dove Awards.

He and Underwood also co-wrote her smash hits “Southbound” and, with Brett James, “Drinking Alone” and “Love Wins,” all of them gold-certified by the RIAA. Underwood, Garcia and James also wrote the original songs “Let There Be Peace” and “Sweet Baby Jesus” on My Gift, among others.
