Paul McCartney will break down his storied career with producer Rick Rubin on the upcoming six-part series McCartney 3, 2, 1, premiering July 16 on Hulu.

The series was first announced in December 2020, and now has a confirmed air date and network. The forthcoming show will see Macca walk through his entire career, from his days as a Beatle to Wings and his five decades as a solo artist. The duo will also discuss the personal relationships and artists who have inspired McCartney’s songwriting.

“Never before have fans had the opportunity to hear Paul McCartney share, in such expansive, celebratory detail, the experience of creating his life’s work — more than 50 years of culture-defining music,” said Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment’s president Craig Erwich.

“To be an observer as Paul and Rick Rubin deconstruct how some of the biggest hits in music history came to be is truly enlightening.”

McCartney 3, 2, 1 was directed by Zachary Heinzerling, while both McCartney and Rubin are among the executive producers.

McCartney released his most recent solo album, McCartney III, this past December along with a covers version, McCartney III Imagined, that saw several high-profile artists reinterpret his songs. The album was comprised of new mixes and readings by St. Vincent, Damon Albarn, Beck, Phoebe Bridgers, Josh Homme, Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien, and more.

The Beatle will also be coming to homes across the world, as the Royal Mail announced a new Paul McCartney stamp collection, that will launch on May 28. The collection will highlight key moments and releases in his legendary career.

Rubin has also been busy during quarantine, hosting his podcast, Broken Record, with Malcolm Gladwell, and has continued his producing work that included the Strokes’ 2020 album, The New Abnormal.
