The latest preview of Sam Fender’s new album is here. The British rocker has shared “Wild Long Lie,” the second advance track from his forthcoming release People Watching. Fender recorded the six-minute “Wild Long Lie” with Adam Granduciel of The War On Drugs, who co-produced several tracks on the new album including the previous single, the album’s heartland-rock title track “People Watching.”

Due Feb. 21 via Capitol Records, People Watching is Fender’s third album. It follows his 2021 release Seventeen Going Under, which Fender billed as “a coming of age story” and “a celebration of life after hardship.” The new LP is a series of character studies exploring the beauty and drama of everyday life. In the case of the contemplative, acoustic-driven “Wild Long Lie,” that means a portrait of a house party where the protagonists are trying to drown out their heartbreak with druggy revelry. Along with “Wild Long Lie,” Fender shared a surprise bonus track, the jangling guitar jam “Me & The Dog,” co-produced by Markus Dravs.

People Watching will be preceded by a special one-night-only underplay at Webster Hall in New York, where Fender will preview the new material for a sold-out audience. His North American tour supporting the project launches April 5 in Vancouver and continues throughout the western half of the continent, including scheduled performances at both Coachella weekends. Fender has a robust slate of dates scheduled across Europe and the UK as well, including a currently ongoing run of UK arena shows.

Fender has been widely recognized as one of UK’s breakout rock stars of the 2020s. With a sound that touches on indie rock, pop, Americana, and more, the North Shields native has attracted a worldwide audience and extensive acclaim for his familiar but singular approach. He’s been especially acclaimed back home in the UK, where he won the Critics’ Choice Award at the 2019 Brit Awards and followed it by winning Best British Rock/Alternative Act at the Brits three years later. Seventeen Going Under was named the best album of 2021 by the NME and shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize, awarded annually to the best album out of the UK and Ireland.
