The Australian duo Royel Otis have shared a new single. “Moody” is out now via OURNESS and Capitol Records.

The track was written by Royel Otis (Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic) alongside Grammy winning songwriter Amy Allen (Sabrina Carpenter, Harry Styles). The song was produced by Blake Slatkin (Gracie Abrams, Omar Apollo, Charli XCX). Per Royel Otis, “Moody” is “a song about a girl.”

Royal Otis will soon be heading out on their “meet me in the car tour” which includes stops in major North American cities. The band will also appear at music festivals including Governor’s Ball, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, and more. The band celebrated the release of “Moody” with a pair of sold out shows at Los Angeles venue The Troubadour.

The duo’s debut EP, 2021’s Campus, was followed up by 2022’s Bar & Grill, which featured the breakthrough single “Oysters in My Pocket.” The following year’s Going Kokomo EP featured “Sofa King,” later included in the EA Sports FC 24 soundtrack.

Royel Otis’ 2024 debut LP, Pratts & Pain, was named for the south London pub where the pair would pen lyrics between sessions with Grammy nominated Dan Carey (Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C., Caroline Polachek). The album features hits like “Fried Rice” and “Foam.”

The band also found success covering other musicians. The pair’s Triple J “Like a Version” take on Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor” reached No. 1 on Alternative U.S. Radio Chart, No. 2 on Billboard Alternative Airplay, and No. 5 on Billboard Rock & Alternative. Their cover of the Cranberries’ “Linger,” cut for a Sirius XM Session, gave the band their first Billboard Hot 100 hit.

Royal Otis were among the most-nominated artists at the 2024 ARIA Awards (Australia’s biggest and prestigious music award shows); They went on to win four awards including “Best Rock Album” and “Best Group.”
