Lenny Kravitz Announces 30th-Anniversary Deluxe Edition of ‘Circus’
Due out September 19th, the new reissue features rare acoustic recordings and previously-unreleased studio material.
Grammy-winning artist Lenny Kravitz is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his fourth studio album Circus with a new digital deluxe edition of the landmark record.
Set for release on September 19, 2025, through Virgin Records/UMe, the expanded edition features 13 previously unavailable bonus tracks, from rare acoustic recordings to sought-after studio material. Among the new highlights on the tracklist are an acoustic version of the title track “Circus” and live recordings of Kravitz classics like “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” “Let Love Rule,” and “Always on the Run.”
The collection also includes three studio bonus tracks—”Another Life,” “Confused,” and “Is It Me, Is It You?”—which were previously only available on a limited edition 10-inch EP and a 2018 vinyl pressing. None of the three tracks have appeared on streaming platforms until now.
Originally released on September 12, 1995, Circus marked a career milestone for Kravitz, becoming his first Top 10 album in the United States when it peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200. Driven by singles “Rock and Roll Is Dead,” “Tunnel Vision,” and “Can’t Get You Off My Mind,” the album eventually earned Gold certification from the RIAA. The album has since garnered hundreds of millions of streams across platforms, making it one of the most popular records in his catalog.
Circus blended otherworldly funk, powerful rock arrangements, and spiritual soul music steeped in psychedelia, creating what Kravitz described as music influenced by his expanding life experiences during that period. He wrote, produced and performed most of the instruments heard on the 11-track collection, recording the album in a variety of locations including the Bahamas, France and Hoboken, New Jersey.
“Circus was a pivotal and incredibly dynamic time in my life,” Kravitz reflected in a statement. “My experiences were expanding in so many directions which directly influenced the music.”
The release follows Kravitz’s recent five-night residency at Las Vegas venue Dolby Live at Park MGM, which he previously ran in 2024. He still has several more tour dates lined up this year, including shows at Sea.Hear.Now, Shaky Knees, Oceans Calling, and Evolution Festival.
