New Gold & Platinum For Hank Williams Jr
Hank Williams Jr was presented with new gold and platinum discs for his impressive collection during his weekend headline run at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, as part of the CMA Music Festival 2016.
The country music giant thrilled the crowd with versions of ‘The Party’s On,’ the current single from his 37th studio album It’s About Time, and brought Eric Church to the stage for its new version of ‘Are You Ready For The Country.’ Williams, or ‘Bocephus’ as he’s widely known, also had Justin Moore and Chris Janson as live guests on the album’s closing track, ‘Born To Boogie.’ (Hank Williams Jr photo credit: Nash Icon Records, photo by David McAlester).
In a presentation before one of the shows, Williams received two new RIAA sales certification awards, winning a gold disc for 500,000 sales of his No. 4 country hit of 1979, ‘Family Tradition,’ and a platinum disc for one million sales of his No. 2 success on that chart in 1982, ‘A Country Boy Can Survive.’ Williams has multiple platinum-selling albums to his name in the US, but the latter single is his first to be certified platinum. Hank Jr’s 2016 shows have all been sellouts, and this summer his itinerary includes an eight-city, co-headlining tour with Chris Stapleton, which visits Houston, Austin, West Palm Beach, Clarkston (Detroit), Cleveland, Indianapolis and Cincinnati.
